Remembering Sgt Ryan Jopek

3 years ago on Sunday, doesn't seem real. While time has changed, my heart remains the same. There is a big chunk missing, everyone seems to know but there seems to be a big part they can not understand. His best friend from Kansas came to visit this last weekend. Breaks my heart to watch others that loved him hurt so much. I miss his smile, his gentil ways, his laugh, his big hugs. He was AMAZING - simple but AMAZING, he changed my life from the day I found out he was going to be. I think that… Continue

Cindy Anderson's Poetry

I became aware of Cindy's booklet of poetry at the April event in Milwaukee. Later I got several copies from her that I have given to special friends. Cindy's work is wonderful and very meaningful for all of us. I encourage you to contact Jim and Cindy to get your copy.

Poetry books

In the spring of 2008 Cindy Anderson (Stepmom to LCpl Nick Anderson, 3-13-06, Afghanistan) started to write poetry. In deciding which of her poems to share Cindy first thought to keep it light. However Cindy had a change of mind. All of us on Earth experience the bitter and the sweet. Cindy's poems share her experience with both.

Cindy begin with the poem I Want to Taste Life. There are 28 other poem included in the chap book.

Cindy and i will send one poetry book to each… Continue

Cedarburg Flags

Thursday, May 21, 2009, Webster Transitional School in Cedarburg, Wisconsin held its annual Flag ceremony to honor all the Wisconsin soldiers who have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. The students raise a flag for each soldier, and all of the students place individual flags at the base of the the large flag. There are three photos of the flags in an album on our page. It is a touching ceremony put together by some wonderful teachers.

BT-RO Run for the Fallen

Judith, Joe and all their helpers staged a spectacular day at Wood National Cemetery with Milwaukee's Run for the Fallen. The weather was magnificent, but being with so many special people was even better. The Castners are looking forward to next year's walk. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

HOW WONDERFUL TO HAVE MET ALL OF YOU AT THE BT-RO FAMILY WEEKEND

It was such a wonderful, comforting experience for Herb and I to meet all of you at our gathering this weekend in Appleton. To be surrounded by others who have experienced the same painful loss as we have is so comforting to us. We could just be ourselves and not worry about what anyone else thought of our actions or words - you are all amazing - Herb and I are honored to be a part of this family.

God Bless you Judith and Joe - you are both truly Guardian Angels for us… Continue

FOR MY BELOVED SON, ERIC, WHOM I MISS MORE THAN ANYTHING....

Two years have passed - time is speeding by

There is not one day that I do not shed a tear

I miss you so much my sweet beloved son

But I feel that you are near.

I know you are happy now that you are with HIM

My comfort lies in knowing that we will meet again

I know you will be waiting to greet me at the Gate

And for that reason honey I will continue to wait.

Until we meet again, My Hero, until we meet again.

I love and miss you… Continue

To my son Eric on the 2 year anniversary of his passing

Hello Son

I can't believe it's been two years
Your loved ones still shed plenty of tears
I firmly believe had you known your plight
You'd still have signed up and joined the fight
You proved me wrong and you were right
And even though we weren't real tight
I know you'll be there to greet me in the Holy Light
God Bless You Son
You are and always will be my Hero
All my love,
Herb
